During the summer of 2011, plans were formulated to begin an ESL (English as a Second Language) ministry at Beacon.  Those interested in participating signed up for training, posters were printed and distributed throughout the community and this new venture began.  The number of folks who attend our ESL varies from week to week; however, we remain optimistic and thankful for the impact that this outreach can have in our community.  We want to provide excellent training in English for those who attend while sharing the gospel as well.
Our classes meet on Sundays during the time of our evening church service (6-7:30 p.m.).  Anyone interested in participating in this program should contact the church office at (336) 226-5205.  Please note that our ESL classes are not limited exclusively to Spanish-speaking individuals. We offer classes from beginner through advanced levels taught by trained teachers. ESL provides us with an opportunity to minister and meet the needs of people in our local community. It also grants us an opportunity to build relationships and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who attend.
The following are some candid photographs from some of our classes.  Students completing the year receive certificates and a gift at our annual banquet.

ESL Rhoades 2016

A low teacher-to-pupil ratio makes the learning process less stressful and enables the teachers to accomplish much more in a short period of time.

Our end-of-the-year banquet was a time of great food and wonderful fellowship!

What a blessing it always is to have our pupils and their families attend the banquet!
